My Little Selection in-house Foundation works closely with a local village school in India, once a year we send supplies, to the school in order to support them with their education. We are passionate about giving back to the communities here in the UK but also abroad by sponsoring a local village school in India and to put into practice our ethos learn, develop and smile.
The story so far
2011 - 2014
Local schools made and sent Diwali cards to the Ninat school in India. Over the last 8 years we continue to send supplies such as stationary items, gifts, teaching resources and sweets and warm meals to the school and children.
A great year and involved rolling up our sleeves, to raise £550.00 from baking and selling cakes to the local community & to local schools for the Christie Hospital in Salford. The Christie Charity develops and supports areas towards increasing understanding of cancer through education and helping patients and their families by offering support. We had the local press following our journey
A fantastic £110.63 raised for the Cure Leukaemia for Kids by doing the Bupa Great Birmingham Run. We have also worked with our local Sainsbury’s and Asda store to donate cakes to raise monies for the a cancer charity.
We showed our support by taking a trip down memory lane and visited the Alexandra Nursery and Children's Centre in Lancashire. We also continue to work closely with the Bulkington Children’s Centre in Warwickshire, local schools and nurseries in donating unwanted items. This year children aged between 5-6 years old donated unwanted toys and books for the foundation to take to our school in India.
During summer 2013 we showed our support by taking a trip down memory lane and visited the Alexandra Nursery & Children’s Centre in celebrating their 40th anniversary in Lancashire. This is where former pupils and comedians Peter Kay and Paddy McGuinness first clapped eyes on each other as toddlers in the 1970s.
FAMILY AFFAIR: Former pupil Shirin Dawda (1988-90) celebrates the anniversary with her son Umar, aged two.
We also continue to work closely with the Bulkington Children’s Centre in Warwickshire, local schools and nurseries in donating unwanted items. Children aged between 5-6 years old donated unwanted toys and books for the foundation to take to our school in India.
Christmas 2012 and 2013
During the festive season we supported the Mary Ann Evans Hospice with the Santa Run and Christmas Fayre. Last year we raised £131.56, along with a donation to the charity. We will also be collecting donations on behalf of Zoe Place at our Christmas markets.
We are grateful to local schools and nurseries for inviting us to support their Diwali Celebrations. My Little Selection enjoyed being involved in providing display resources and food for the children to learn about different cultures. We enjoyed watching the teachers and children dressing up and learning all about the Festival of Lights.
Our Plans for the 2014
